BSc Hons (Psych), MBA, MPJM, PhD, MAPS

Dr Elizabeth (Liz) Buikstra is a Registered Psychologist with 25 years’ experience in clinical, project management, research and leadership including a wide range of areas such as resilience, mental health, human factors, rural and remote mental health, and health generally.

Liz brings a unique perspective to rural and remote mental health, shaped by her diverse experience working and conducting research across many parts of Queensland. Her background with the ADF and Queensland Health, combined with strong family ties, gives her a deep understanding of the environments in which Health, Defence Force, and Policing personnel operate. Liz recognises the importance of tailoring treatment to address issues such as trauma, PTSD, workplace stress, burnout, grief and loss, and interpersonal or family difficulties.

About Lacewing Psychology

Lacewing butterflies are native to the far north of Australia, with the Red and Orange Lacewing butterflies featuring in the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary located in Kuranda, Far North Queensland. For me, the butterfly symbol represents transformation and resilience, and reflects the positive lifestyle changes that individuals can achieve.
